Debe was a fantastic agent. In fact, she was so good that I bought this home from her and then used her as my agent when it was time to sell it. She kept in constant contact with me about what was going on and did a great job marketing my home. I got an offer in no time! She was great all around - marketing (amazing), communication (always available), organization, at recommending local contractors for work to be done and Debe is THE BEST NEGOTIATOR around! She has a great knowledge of the area and what is going on in the market. She's a true professional and that is hard to find! I had worked with Debe and Scott on the purchase of this property just a little over a year ago and absolutely loved working with them both. With Debe's supreme knowledge of the Charlotte area and Scott's expertise with the market and structural and cosmetic aspects of the home, I put all of my faith in their hands. The buying experience with these two was nothing short of amazing.
Fast forwarding a year and it was unfortunately time for me to offload this home and relocate to a different state. I contacted Debe and Scott and had them come over to see the house and ask if they'd be willing to list it. After a couple of weeks and several Superb Photos (shout out to Ken), the house went onto MLS at 12:30'ish AM on a Saturday morning, and by 2:30'ish that afternoon we had an offer and were under contract shortly after that. To say I was pleased would be an understatement, overjoyed would be the word I would choose here.
To break it down simply; for those of you who are looking for an agent to just list your house and sit on it along with the 10+ homes they have on MLS, Debe and Scott are not for you. If you want agents that will work, that will do everything within their power to sell your home for you, work with you, become your friends, invite you to social events, etc...absolutely give Debe or Scott a call.
Regardless of the sales aspect of their jobs, I never felt like I was just being used for a commission check; I genuinely felt like they cared about my needs and me personally. I know that if I am ever back in the Charlotte area I can call either of them up, ask them to lunch or dinner and if they were available, I know they'd kindly accept. These are the type of agents you want; relationship builders, not sales people.
Thank you both for your care, your hard work and your dedication to your clientele. I will certainly never forget you, and if you ever decide to travel my direction I am awaiting your call.
We worked with Scott and Debe in purchasing an investment property in Charlotte in anticipation of occupying it ourselves in a few years. We currently live in Raleigh and had been tracking the real estate market in Charlotte for about a year. We scheduled an appointment with Debe and Scott to see some of the listings that we had selected; on our first meeting with Scott and Debe we spent some time discussing our interests and getting updated information on the properties that we had selected.
Scott then spent a day and a half with us visiting those that we had prequalified; he was very observant of our reaction to each property and extremely helpful in pointing out pros and cons of each. By the end of the two days we had eliminated all of our choices and Scott suggested he spend some time doing some research that evening to see if anything else might be available based on his observations. We met the following morning; Scott had selected four properties that he thought we might be interested in and Bingo...he nailed it! We made an offer which Debe negotiated and we had a signed contract within a few days. Both Debe and Scott went above and beyond in helping us maneuver our way through a VA loan (not easy) and they recommended a property manager who supervised the remodel work that has now been completed.
We have purchased and sold several residences and Debe and Scott are by far the best! They are attentive, knowledgeable and professional agents and a pleasure to work with.
Scott and Debe were extremely helpful and patient with us as we sought after our first home together. We could not be more happy with the process and the overall results. My husband and I were moving to Charlotte from out of town and searching for a house in the greater Charlotte area. Since our house in Pittsburgh, PA had already sold and was due to close shortly we only had a few days to find the right house We gave Scott and Debe a list of requirements and they ran with it. They put together lists of houses for us to review online. Then, after narrowing down the list and refining our criteria we started looking at houses in person. Scott had the difficult task of finding us a final list of 8 houses that my husband Bryan and I would both have the opportunity to see in person.
I don’t know how many hours Scott spent searching for houses that met our criteria. He listened to all of our needs and we had an excellent list of final contenders. Our most difficult task was making the final decision on the house.
Debe and Scott handled every step of the buying and closing processes with outstanding attention to detail. Debe negotiated the final contract perfectly. Being from out of town, we needed recommendations for folks throughout the process including an excellent mortgage specialist who was able to get our closing finalized very quickly.
Scott and Debe went to great lengths to pay attention to every deal and listen to our needs from the beginning to the process until long after we had moved into our new home! We appreciate them as agents and now also as friends. We have no doubt they will be our first call when we are ready to sell and purchase our next home.
What did Debe of The Maxwell House Group do well that should be continued?: Debe did an amazing job selling our home. She helped in ways that I never knew we needed to do to prepare for the sale of our home--her team helped with staging, inspections, repair work, showing us what the competition was and how to BEAT the competition in every way possible and prepped us for the dreaded but welcomed showings!
Debe was able to sell our home in a slower market for a price that we never anticipated we would get for the house and she did it in record time. She even fought to have the appraisal updated because it originally was what we thought, very low. From what we heard from neighbors, it was typical for the high end market to receive these low appraisals and no one else was either willing to fight the appraisal or didn't win when they did.
She did an unbelievable job negotiating the very short repair list--a couple of items were just not deemed necessary in the eyes of the law and she knew which ones were trigger points for the buyers and which ones weren't.Debe answered hundreds of questions and never minded our late night calls to inquire about something that we thought was urgent--even though it truly wasn't, but she did help us sleep at night many times.
We have already recommended Debe and her team (who were also incredibly attentive) to several of our friends and business associates and will continue to do so.
This was the third time you have helped us with our home move. When we put our house on the market two years ago, you were literally “wonderful”; you reviewed with us exactly what you recommended we do. Your professionalism and, yet, very personal touch with everything was so impressive and comfortable. From the very beginning, Judy and I were completely confident that you guys had our best interests first in your goals. The presentation film you prepared was so beautiful, I wanted to buy our house!! You stayed at our side all the way through the inspection/negotiating process with the buyer all the way to closing. You were always there to answer and explain any issues that weren’t completely clear to us.
Just as the dust from closing was settling, we had about two weeks to find a new home. I honestly viewed this task as impossible. But, again, there you were; in just a week or so, you found us a home. I still think that required the aid of a brass lamp and a genie!
And now recently, when we decided to stay in the Charlotte area, we didn’t even have to think about who to turn to. And, there you were again. Judy and I had several house requirements; and we really must tell you et al, just how much your help, involvement, and particularly your never faltering patience got us through again. I don’t know how to say thanks enough, but I do know that you were great.
I've had my real estate license for 30+ years and always dreaded working with Realtors because I know the (low) level of service most of them provide. When we decided to sell our house, we felt we were stuck so engaged several (5) realtors to come tell us how they would help us. The first 4 were all a bust - big promises, but they couldn't convince me they would deliver.
We saw a listing in our neighborhood with Debe Maxwell's name on it and it was priced pretty high - so we called her in to see what she would do for us (we had one of the larger/nicer houses in our subdivision).
She suggested a price much higher than anyone else, so I was skeptical. I asked her if that was her suggested asking price or our expected sale price, and she replied, "YES", and showed us where her Ask to Sale prices were almost the same. Now, I'm interested. I then asked her how long it would take to get that price and she showed me where her average time to contract was less than 10 days. She then told us how she accomplished these impressive stats, and I was sold.
Her counsel on getting the house ready was realistic and the solutions were inexpensive. Her responsiveness was FAST. She listened, advised, took initiative - did all the right things to help a seller sell their house with minimal stress and cost. What more could you ask for?
We had a lot of action right away, and Debe brought in offers IN EXCESS of our asking price, within 5 days. And the deals were clean. She gave us sound advice on the negotiations (not always what we wanted to hear - but always "spot-on"), and left us thoroughly impressed. We found our Realtor!
BUT, because she sold our house so quickly, we were not ready to move, or look for another house! We gladly engaged Debe and Scott to help us find our new house - same story - fast, thorough, patient, wise, pleasant - it was just as good an experience as selling our old house.
Actually, it got better. A week later, we made an offer the first day we went out with Scott, only to find out that there were PROBLEMS with the new house so we had to back out of the deal - Scott called us two days later to tell us that he scoured the market for "just the right house" and found "the one". His counsel was to see it quickly because it had just came on the market and he thought it would go fast. We went the next day - and it was "the one". He told us what he thought it would sell for - but of course we thought we could get it lower - so submitted a lower price. That was quickly rejected, the counter was exactly what Scott had said it would sell for, so we took it.
Afterwards, we talked with the seller only to find out that we were the first ones to see the house, and that they had two full - price offers the same day we submitted, and consummated our deal. Scott was right on the price, AND about how long it would take to sell. Glad we listened to Scott and Debe!
So, now you know why I took so much of your time to write this - when I think of Realtors, "it just doesn't get any better than this" (working with Debe and Scott).

Debe Maxwell provided great service...first class service. She helped us buy our first place and seven years later, sell our first place. What made the latter more remarkable is it was done from a distance. Stress free transaction from a distance...Debe is awesome.
