Steele Creek Charlotte NC | Lake Wylie SC
The Steele Creek Community is not only one of the fastest growing communities in Charlotte but, it also boasts the highest employment concentrations in the county. Within a one-mile area at the tip of Steele Creek, just off of Carowinds Boulevard, there are several different types of zoning including commercial, industrial, residential and multi-family as well as the large Paramount’s Carowinds amusement park, a business park and even church zoning. The large-scale international business parks and manufacturing plants along the Westinghouse Blvd. and Arrowood Road corridor are the primary reason for the increased growth. The Steele Creek area is about 47 square miles running from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport to west of Sugar Creek and I-77 and southward to Lake Wylie.
The upper Steele Creek area is home to two popular new master-planned communities, Berewick and the live/work Town of Ayrsley. Ayrsley includes live-work townhomes above boutique and retail shopping, great restaurants, a 14-plex movie theatre, a satellite YMCA, a hotel and medical offices.
A new live/work town center is planned in the Berewick community as well. Berewick includes its own park and elementary school and a wide variety style of homes and builders is featured in the residential area.
The lower Steele Creek area, located at the intersection of Hwy 49 (South Tryon St.) and Hwy 160 (Steele Creek Road) boasts major new business, retail and residential development over the last decade and is considered by the locals as their Town Center.
