ABOUT HISTORIC EASTOVER
Located southeast of Uptown Charlotte, Charlotte’s historic Eastover is known for being the first suburb with driveways for “motorcars.” Eastover’s stately homes have been known to attract many Charlotte community leaders who helped shape the city’s growth since the 1920’s. Some of those elite leaders include banker, Hugh McColl Jr., department store icon, John Belk, as well as the E. C. Griffith family, who developed most of the historic Eastover community.
The two largest historic communities in the city, Eastover and Myers Park were divided by the installation of Providence Road (Highway 16), leaving Eastover with a community of approximately 550 homes to the east of Providence Road. These Charlotte luxury homes in Eastover are simply packed with history and character–ahh, if only the walls could talk!
THE HOMES
The main ‘thoroughfare’ of Eastover is Cherokee Road. This gently winding road leads from Laurel Avenue to Providence Road in several locations. Parallel to Cherokee is Colville Road, which intersects with Eastover Road, boasting some of the Eastover community’s largest, luxury homes.
The Eastover community is considered one of the finest historic neighborhoods in the Charlotte metro area. Parks, public tennis courts and quaint, local shops and restaurants are all within walking distance of some of Charlotte’s most stately homes. Historic Eastover’s early architecture is overwhelmingly reflective of Georgian revival. There is a wonderful architectural mix throughout Eastover today with styles such as Provincial, Tudor, colonial and English Tudor.
Charotte luxury homes in Eastover range in size from cozy 1,300 square-feet bungalows to over 10,000 SF luxury estates. Homes range in price from the $300,000’s into the millions in this historic, luxury community in the ‘inner city’ of Charlotte.
