What’s the Weather Like in Charlotte NC?
Well, we Charlotteans think we have it all–and we do! Four seasons, that is! What a wonderful temperate climate we enjoy in the Piedmont area of North Carolina. Charlotte’s four seasons contribute to seasonal recreational activities as well indoor and outdoor events; what a treat to have a nice change in weather each quarter!

Golfing is a huge sport and pastime for Charlotte residents and we’re able to partake in the sport nearly year round. Even though we certainly do have a winter season, that’s about the only season that doesn’t bring golfers out in droves.
We enjoy our Carolina Panthers and high school football in the fall and winter months and basketball in the dead of winter with our Charlotte Bobcats, ACC and high school basketball. Also in the winter months, our central location (only 2.5 hours to the ski slopes) affords quick trips to the mountains for weekend skiing. In the spring and summer months, it’s all about soccer, lake living and more golfing! Again, our central location within North Carolina allows us to enjoy easy weekend beach trips, as we’re only about 3 hours to the South Carolina beaches.
On occasion, we’ll have a good snow. The entire city shuts down as we are all enthralled by the white fluffy snow, which we only see 1-2 times per year. You’ll also want to be sure that you prepare accordingly because your trip to the grocer on the day before a forecasted snow, to purchase a loaf of bread and milk may be met with long lines; we never know when we’re going to be able to get to the store next! Seriously, the snowfall generally slows us down for a day or two, then it’s back to a normal winter’s days.
The average summer temperature in Charlotte is around 86 degrees for a high and in winter, the high is in the low 50’s.
