Charlotte Renovation Prize Winners 2012

A whole-house renovation by builder Andrew Roby and Hustvedt Cutler Architects won Best in Show in this year’s Excellence in Remodeling contest – and left the judges asking to see even more pictures of the stylish project.
Roby also was the top winner overall, earning awards for eight projects in the 23rd annual contest hosted by the Remodelors Council, an arm of the Home Builders Association of Charlotte. Kelly McArdle Construction and the architectural firm of McClure Nicholson Montgomery won six awards each, sharing honors for the same projects in some categories.
Metropolitan Builders and Alan Simonini Homes took five awards each.
Judges this year were designer Alina Bartlett of the House of Bartlett, architect Lindsay Daniel, designer Ashley Jimenez of Ashley J Design, builder and architect Kevin Pfahl, builder Tom Wise – president of the Lake Norman Home Builders this year – and Observer columnist Allen Norwood.
