Sherwood Forest is s popular inner-city community and is surround by other communities such as Stonehaven, Lansdowne, Providence Park, and Cotswold.
The dominant architectural style in Sherwood Forest is the ranch, of either brick or wood exterior. In keeping with its namesake, the area’s street names such as Nottingham, Addison, Longbow and Robinhood, are attributed to characters and places from ‘Robin Hood.’

The neighborhood is primarily zoned for Myers Park High School, with southeastern sections of the neighborhood zoned for East Mecklenburg High School.
