Search Charlotte Neighborhoods | Stonehaven
Formerly Rama, NC, Charlotte’s well-established community of Stonehaven has become one of Charlotte’s favorite close-in areas to reside. My in-laws built their home in 1970, one of the first (as a matter of fact, the second home built in the neighborhood) to be built by one of Charlotte’s famed builders. Thomasson Builders, began this project in the early 70’s and completed Stonehaven in the late-70’s.
At the time, according to my father-in-law, Rama, NC was considered ‘quite a haul’ from Charlotte’s Uptown area and those who built in the neighborhood were considered ‘risk-takers’ as the area was simply ‘too far from Downtown!’ With Charlotte’s sprawl in all directions of the center city area over the years, Stonehaven has become one of the neighborhoods that is considered close-in and highly desirable. Rama, NC no longer exists as the area has been incorporated into Charlotte, as have many areas–miles and miles in all directions of the center city.
This well-established neighborhood in Charlotte NC, is located southeast of Uptown Charlotte near the intersection of Sardis and Rama Roads, extending east to Monroe Road and South to McAlpine Creek. The homes range from 1,200 to over 4,000 square feet and the style of
homes range from ranch to multi-level to split-levels; contemporary and traditional homes make up the vast majority of the homes in this subdivision. From wood siding to brick, the homes are certainly not ‘cookie-cutter’ and offer larger lot sizes with mature trees enveloping the homes.
The community offers a fabulous location as well as great amenities including a pool, clubhouse, playground and tennis courts with low, voluntary HOA fees for use of the amenities. Boyce and McAlpine Parks are easily accessible to Stonehaven as well. SouthPark Mall, Phillips Place and Cotswold are mere minutes away from this community, offering high-end shopping, restaurants, libraries and much more. Also, just a few minutes away from Uptown, SouthPark residents can enjoy all of the sports, arts and 5-star restaurants that the center city has to offer.
Prices range from the high $100’s to the low $400’s. Stonehaven homes have maintained their value over the years due to their quality construction and great Charlotte location.
