Charlotte homeowners, it’s that time again! Okay, well, people do sell homes all year long but, the vast majority of homeowners who can be flexible with the time to sell their home, do so in the spring. So, it’s time to start thinking of what you need to do to prepare…and what mistakes you need to avoid.
Being a member of a national real estate network, ActiveRain, we provide feedback about our areas, participate in surveys about anything and everything to do with real estate and share information that we know and learn with our consumers. We recently participated in a survey asking which mistakes our local sellers typically make. As we expected, the same issues were noted nationwide. Here are the results:

Cluttered space is also a huge negative: Remember that buyers want to see the SPACE and if your closets runneth over, you will give your buyers the impression that there is not enough storage in your home. Bear in mind, the first impression is a lasting one! Read tips on decluttering and making your home stand out in the market. I always tell my Charlotte home sellers that since they WILL be moving soon, they may as well go ahead and begin the packing process prior to listing – declutter as much as possible.
And, when you do get your home on the market, remember that showing availability is critical – we cannot sell your home from the street and statistics show that buyers do NOT buy homes that they’ve toured with the sellers present. Don’t be the elephant in the room for showings either!
